It may be raining here in Greenville, but we’re thinking about those warm summer days that are right around the corner. We’ve shared some of our favorite trends for the year (see our love for all things brass and evergreen), but what’s hot (or cool!) for the summer? We’ve got three ideas to change up your space.
While this piece is likely already a staple in your bedroom, Lonny Mag says we can expect to see more and more unique nightstands on the market this year, and we always love a quick and easy way to switch things up in a bedroom or guest room. Vintage nightstands are a great way to get that one-of-a-kind look, and remember--they don’t have to match! This is a fun way to think outside the box--we’ve seen round end tables, small dressers, and even vintage suitcases on top of director’s chairs used as nightstands. Have fun with it! For tips on styling your nightstand, we love this guide for mixing aesthetics and function from Becky Gardner. Photo sources: 1 • 2 • 3
Hygge (pronounced “hue-guh”) is a Danish word that’s taking the internet by storm. It’s usually translated as a feeling of coziness, or something that’s special or charming. While hygge is usually associated with long, dark Scandinavian winters, who says you can’t have a little cozy in the summer? Southern screened-in porches are the perfect place to decorate with hygge in mind. We love using this space to incorporate different textures, and while you may not be cozying up with a blanket in July, layering your space with different textiles will make it all that more inviting. Ahh, our love for all things blue never ends. With summer approaching, you can go the nautical route with stripes and vintage prints or textiles or keep it simple for a cool, relaxing space. Try splashes of blue here and there, or go bold with this idea from Domino Mag: navy walls, dark wood furniture, and accents of crisp white or blush. Photo sources: 1 • 2 • 3
