Heart and Soul at Cottage Grove Vintage Market

Welcome! I’m Katie Bright, a Cottage Grove Vintage Market customer-turned-blogger. New blog posts will go up regularly, so stay tuned for trends, tips, inspiration, and more! To start things off, I’d love to share my story with Cottage Grove Vintage...

On a sweltering Friday afternoon last July, I stepped in the doors of Cottage Grove Vintage Market after months of driving past and wondering. My husband and I were beginning the process of graduating from our tired IKEA furniture, and I had issued a challenge to myself to begin checking out more of Greenville’s local businesses. An hour later, I walked out with the prettiest gray dresser and--more importantly--a new friend. Susan welcomed me in, scooped up my towhead toddler, and had me so excited I could have bought half the store.

In the months after, we added a sofa, record-player console, side tables, and vintage prints to our collection, all from Cottage Grove Vintage. As each new piece came home with us, I could feel the richness we were adding to our space, not because of the furniture itself, but because of the sense of place and the feeling of permanence we were creating. This was our home, and we were furnishing it according to our values--giving new life to old pieces and creating spaces where our guests will feel like family.

How fun is this orange crewel sofa? This might be my favorite find of all.

I love stopping in every week or two to see what’s landed in the shop, but what really keeps me coming back is the feeling of home, the comfort of knowing I’m not a stranger once I step in the door, and the inspiration to create that very same atmosphere in my own home.
